At NatWest, we recognise that Women make up 52% of the UK population yet only 20% run and lead their own businesses. Why is that? What are the barriers? Research has shown some of the barriers include, Lack of networks, lack of role models and a lack of self confidence & self belief.

To celebrate International Women's Day NatWest and our Focused Women Network are partnering with Justice Williams MBE and The Studio Venues Birmingham to bring you an informal event where we will discuss and celebrate what ground-breaking action is taking place to truly drive the greatest change for women.

The 2017 focus is "BE BOLD FOR CHANGE"  and below is a taster of what you can expect on the day

Guest Speaker - We will hear from founder/owner of Miss Macaroon CIC Rosie Ginday on her inspirational journey.

A lively and informative panel discussion delving into this year’s IWD theme "BEBOLDFORCHANGE"

Justice Williams MBE - Founder of West Midlands Women of the year

These modules are designed to give you strategies to understand yourself and others, improve your relationships, find new clients and raise your performance. Christine will be delivering her first module called Who am I? This module aims for you to connect with your identity, purpose whilst working through your limiting beliefs – letting them go and creating healthy beliefs. This module is backed up with research, strategies & proven tools by practical psychologists.

Being Safe On Line - Detective Sergeant Gary Sirrell (West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit) and Helen Barge Owner/Director of Risk Evolves will deliver an informative presentation how to protect yourself from on-line cyber crime.

The UK's internet economy is one of the strongest in the world, international and domestic cyber criminals increasingly view UK-based businesses and private individuals as attractive targets for a range of cyber crime. Book your stall at the popular annual International Women's Day (IWD) Festival Derby 2017!

Engage with hundreds of festival visitors, reach a diverse audience, network with 40 other organisations and catch the eye of passers-by on a busy Saturday in the city centre.

This is an annual event organised by a non-profit group of volunteers - by the community, for the community; the event brings together local public services, charities, support groups, national campaigns and inspiring role models to celebrate, inspire, reach out, raise awareness and make a difference.

Observed across the globe, IWD is a chance to celebrate achievements, raise awareness of the issues affecting women and girls and inspire people to take action on gender equality. It is also a day to remember, celebrate and thank women and girls – past and present.

The festival hosts a variety of stalls; stallholders engage with the hundreds of visitors to the IWD festival on a busy Saturday in the city centre. Stallholders say that they benefit from being part of the IWD festival by raising awareness, networking with other organisations, engaging the public, fundraising, recruiting staff or volunteers or growing membership and being associated with a positive event, showing a commitment to gender equality.

As well as the stalls at the festival, there will be celebrations with live multicultural performances, inspiring workshops, sports, crafts and activity tasters, family fun, creche and food outlets and a great atmosphere. Stalls will be located on the Market Place under the cover of a large marquee/s and yurts which we are providing.

The event is free to enter (donations appreciated) for all the community, and everyone is welcome - all genders, all ages, to help everyone in Derby & Derbyshire to celebrate and renew efforts towards gender equality. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Don't forget to join this event and promote your stall on our facebook page too: https://www.facebook.com/events/1310628388955201/

Fulton Hogan IWD2017 Sponsor"Wow, what an amazing & inspirational 2016 International Women’s Day Luncheon. Your team of passionate people put on a really great event.  Everything about the room & décor were beautiful, the food, wines, prizes & of course the speakers were top notch.
I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to speak to the table of high school girls’ that attended, about the great opportunities that the construction sector offers.
Fulton Hogan is excited to be part of the 2017 event in a larger capacity.  We want to build stronger communities & we need a diverse workforce, with a greater share of women, to do this”
